Blonde and green. Literally.

Today I was proven that brunettes are smarter than blondes.

The short story goes that a brunette fixed the rain cover for Jacob's pram that I'd had tried to repair myself.

I love repairing things. I hate throwing things away. The other day, a local tailor fixed my Acne jeans and now they are even cooler. Sometimes, though, I end up fixing things that probably would cost a lot less to replace. But, it doesn't feel great dumping a pair of perfectly usable children jeans, for example, just because a botton has fallen off.

Actually, I've stopped throwing old clothes in the bin. Socks with holes in them and anything else that's worn and torn I bring to H&M that has a really cool recycling program. The program lets you recycle any garmet, even if it's not H&M-branded, and in return you get a bonus check worth SEK 50 that you can use next time you shop for more than SEK 300.

The clothes that still look OK to wear, but my children have outgrown or I no longer use, I donate to local charities. So, basically no garmet goes to waste in our household. Feels pretty good knowing that we don't contribute to the huge textile landfill.

Check out this infographic that illustrates how much Americans throw away every year. I'm sure we Europeans are pretty bad at recycling too, so let's support the great iniatives out there or donate your clothes online (in Sweden we use blocket.se) or to your local thrift store.

Until next time, live green!
