Old dresses get a makeover
I woke up this morning to find this very inspiring story about a woman who started blogging about turning old and ugly dresses into fashion pieces after being fired from her job.
Last year, Marisa Lynch set herself a challenge to transform 365 old garments in 365 days for 365 dollars. She is currently on day 261, and has 106 dollars left in her pocket. The blog, New Dress A Day, was conceived after watching the film Julie & Julia, which is based on a true story about Julia Powell who decided to blog about her challenge to make a new dish every day following the Julia Child's famous American receipe book.
I was very inspired by that film too and wanted to find something to do for 365 days, but with two small children in the house I realized it would be too big of a challenge. Anyway, Marisa has no plans of stopping once her 365 days are up. She is even thinking of teaming up with a charity to auction off her dresses. Now that is what I call green!
